The Well Sand Detector (WSD), a cased-hole logging tool developed by TecWel, is designed to pinpoint the entry point of sand from producing intervals. The WSD can be run in all types of completions, and the tool can also identify sand being produced through sliding sleeves. The WSD is designed to pick up the energy generated by a grain of sand when it collides with the tool housing
Specifications for using the tool:
The WSD can be run as a stand-alone service, but the tool can also be run in combination with other production logging tools like spinners, pressure and temperature gauges etc, provided that the tools are using the same telemetry system. To detect sand producing intervals it is important that the well is producing while we log with a line speed from 3 to10m/min (10 to 30 ft/min)
