The Well Annular Flow (WAF), a cased-hole logging tool developed by TecWel, detects and locates flow behind the pipe in the annulus between two casings or in the annulus between the casing and the formation
With the Well Annular Flow WAF, TecWel can identify undesired flow along the well trajectory- flow parallel to the well path- in different annuli, preventing:
Contamination of ground water
Underground blow out
Sustained casing pressure
Undesired water cut
Undesired gas cut
Specifications for using the tool:
There is no need to pull the tubing to identify undesired flow behind the pipe, but the well should be shut in while logging. The normal line speed is from 3 to 5 m/min (10 to 15 ft/min). The WAF can also been run inside a casing (i.e. no tubing installed in the well).
